Nicholas
Nicholas passed away due to non-cancer related medical challenges in December 2014, a couple of days shy of his eighth birthday. Nicholas’ greatest obstacles came with medical challenges related to having Costello Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder. Despite numerous surgeries, medical interventions and therapies, Nicholas maintained a positive outlook, a fabulous sense of humor, and loving relationships with all those he knew. He loved family vacations, doing art projects, and Curious George.
His family feels fortunate to have had the support of the Georgetown Lombardi Cancer Clinic, where Nicholas was successfully treated for a Rhabdomyosarcoma in 2008 and 2010-11 when he was only 1 and 3. In Nicholas’s memory, his older brother Zachary is completing his ninth race and his younger brother Alexander is completing his third race. Nicholas’s family is so grateful for the support of their friends and family on Team Nicholas, who continue to race on his behalf to support JUST TRYAN IT. Their family has been honored to be a part of JUST TRYAN IT and appreciates the thoughtful tradition of honoring the memory of Nicholas and other children each year during the opening ceremony.
